I Cross ‘Til I Am Weary

SKU: N/A Category:

This fragment of an Emily Dickinson poem is my attempt to imagine the emotional experience of the many refugees who have had to flee their homes, inspired by the story of one Afghan woman who fled her home and walked to Pakistan, only to return home to Afghanistan once the coast was clear. Only to fell a second time and then return again and then flee a third time and then return again. I feel that this story—that desire to return home at all cost—is one that isn’t being told. Originally set for women’s voices, there is also a score available for mixed voices.
