I wrote this deep in the back country of Denali National Park, Alaska. It was a commission to celebrate the anniversary of Ken and Pat Rolston, two fine human beings who live in Mt. Tabor, New Jersey. When the Bright Wings Chorus performs this piece, we like to “sing the shapes” the final time through—slightly unorthodox from a shape-note perspective, but I like the way it gets the music to seep into your bones.
